I recently got a new upgraded iPhone. And now Siri is totally addictive! I can say, Hey Siri can you set my alarm for 6:30 am? and she does! She or He (if you decide to turn her to a British dude you can) talks to me all day about the weather, directions and anything that I need to know. So how can Siri help me experience a closer relationship with God?
Here are the Top 5 Ways That My IPhone is jump starting my closeness with God!
I love to listen to podcasts while I’m on the treadmill or doing really boring tasks at my desk like paying bills or filing. They fill the time and I learn something. Joyce Meyer and Beth Moore always get me thinking. Just download a podcast app and stream your favorites. Or listen from your desktop.
I’m a total tunes girl. Christian music changes my mood, day, the atmosphere of my household….I just can’t say enough about how music affects my thoughts and attitude. Now I can even ask Siri, “Hey Siri will you play Redeemer by Nicole C. Mullen?” and she will on the the spot! Now who can have a bad day after listening to that song?!!
I listen to Third Day, Newsboys, MercyMe, Casting Crowns, Nicole Nordeman, Shaun Groves and Toby Mac just to name a few. Find your music preference for quiet or energizing worship through iTunes or Spotify.
If I ask Siri to bring up a christian daily devotional for the day lots pop up instantly. I love to read Proverbs 31 Ministries, Living Proof Ministries, Lysa Terkeurst, and recently Homeword Daily. It’s just so easy to find one that really speaks to you. Proverbs 31 Ministries is full of different writers, most of them moms who talk about life raising kids and God’s promises. LOVE!!
…Like Scripture of the Day that gives a quick word verse for the day any time I want a word from God. It usually gets me thinking on it….sometimes a bite size morsel of Gods word can be as thought provoking for me as a whole chapter.
The Holy Bible app allows me to read anything in the Bible off my phone anytime…they have highlighters, concordances/word searches, all different versions so that I can compare them.
Txt, FaceTime and Calls
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve either gotten or sent a text in a group that says “Hey friend, can you pray right now for something for me?…and then goes on to explain the immediacy of the prayer need. Don’t suffer alone, use your phone and reach out to a friend to pray with you when you need comfort or peace or whatever and you will experience the peace of God come over your situation.
Stay close to God and your days will be full of His love; you will have His view of who you are and how to look at circumstances around you.
Now if only Siri could make dinner and run to the orthodontist with kids, right?!
